EMUL-ARM
supports GNU versions 2.95 and 3.2. We use the MicroCross
GNU in our testing, and we also resell the MicroCross GNU.
A question frequently asked is "Why buy GNU? Isn't it
supposed to be free"? Here
is MicroCross' answer...
We recommend
buying the MicroCross GNU tools rather than building them
yourself not only because it is hassle free and has a relatively
low cost, but also because EMUL-ARM supports it. On the other
hand, if you are comfortable building your own GNU tools,
by all means go ahead. Nohau will continue to try to support
GNU (as long as it is Elf/Dwarf).
Please
note that Nohau does not recommend the GNU compiler without
reservations: many people like it, but others do not. If you
have no prior experience with GNU, be prepared to invest some
learning time.
MicroCross
has a product that makes it easier to use the GNU compiler
-- the Visual X-Tools IDE -- which is a full-featured IDE
for the GNU compiler and linker. This product is not only
for the novice GNU user, it is also a professional code editor
(based on SlickEdit). Seehau can be integrated into Visual
X-Tools. More
information here...
Please
note that MicroCross GNU is not currently supported by our
Board Support Packages.
